TranSglass is designed by Emma Woffenden and Studio Tord Boontje. Through his work, Boontje explores juxtapositions of the old and new, naturlism and technology. Born in the Netherlands in 1968, he studied industrial design at Eindhoven Design Academy before enrolling at the Royal College of Art in London. Woffenen works as an artist producing sculpture and installations, with a special interest in glass making. She earned an MA in ceramics and glass at the Royal College of Art in London. As contributing designers under the Artecnica banner, Boontje and Woffenden have created the tranSglass line of recycled glass objects in collaboration with Guatemalan artisans. TranSglass takes recycling to a new level creating exciting new shapes and forms. Combining old world craftsmanship and sophisticated design, each tranSglass vessel is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. TranSglass is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
